This is my first Mini Marathon and I am happy to report that I completed the 13.1 miles in 2hrs, 21min and 34secs! My goal was to complete the run in 2hr, 15-20min so its safe to say I was in the zone. The experience was awesome and I will probably do it again in the future. I'd like to do some shorter runs between. Some I'd like to do are the Lexington, KY and the Peachtree of Atlanta, GA. I have heard the Chicago Rock and Roll race is fun too... I think they have a bunch of rock bands along the route playing songs for the runners. Suppose it would be fun. There is also a Geist run I may check into. I have developed a love for running, so I hope that my body can tolerate it for a long time to come!
Mike and the kids had a terrific time run/walking the Indy Mini 5K this year. It made me so proud and excited that they were able to experience such an awesome event! I hope they come again and participate. I have them signed up to complete the kidz marathon May 16th at BSU. They have been walking since the beginning of Spring and by the end of school, they will have all but one mile (which they will finish thru the YMCA's kidz marathon) at Ball State in a few weeks.
It was nice to have the family over after the race at our house. Several members came to Indiana. Aunt Judy is from Chicago area, Uncle Joe and cousin Jessica came from North Carolina, Cousin Todd came from San Francisco, and my sister Charlotte, her husband Peyton, my two nieces-Lisbeth and Leah came from Palm Harbor, FL. Aunt Janet, Uncle David, cousins Sarah and husband Chris, cousin Sue and Grama Great (Helen) came to our house to eat and spend the day together. It was nice!
The next day my sis and I traveled to Hamilton Town Center to have lunch and window shop! We went to a great Irish Pub called Moe's and had a terrific lunch followed by Gelato and Sorbet for desert, YUM!!! We enjoyed our time together very much although there seems to never be enough of it. We may get together in June when my family takes vacation in Siesta Keys, Sarasota, FL... Can't wait!
